Mommy Must Haves

If you've ever read, Eat right for your blood type books, this one is specifically geared to eating right while pregnant, nursing and feeding your baby for the first year. You do need to know your blood type. It gives you information on where to buy an at home blood testing kit, if you're interested.
This book tells you all the foods that help you feel your best during pregnancy and gives you lists of the best foods to eat while nursing as well. Yea doctors tell you generally that babies don't do well with certain foods, but all people/babies are different. This book directly targets your blood type and I have to say, it's been right on so far. I came across this book while starting my son on solid foods (and still nursing). I had already fed my son some foods that it had said not to start until he was older. Those were the exact foods that bothered him and made him fussy! At the very least, it takes some of the guesswork out of feeding your child. And since your child's not able to tell you what hurts his tummy, it's best to follow it and feed your child the foods that bring him the most nutrients. When you're feeling depleted from nursing, there are also fun recipes and super foods to get you back on track! It's a wonderful quick reference to keep by your side at all times.

Nordic Naturals- DHA Junior

My son has been taking this everyday since he was 3 months old.  My husband's Aunt Carolyn (An amazing nutritionist who formulates vitamins for many different companies) recommended that we start Jackson on it.  It's essential for eye & brain development and as an added benefit, makes my son's BM's very regular!  I guess I don't truly know how much I can attribute to the DHA oil though.  Jackson has been on it for so long.  But, I do know that I have a very healthy, happy, smart child and I know that this product has only been to his benefit.  I just add 1/2 teaspoon to his morning milk and he loves it!  I think it's strawberry flavor but it's pretty tasteless to me (which is a great thing when it comes to toddlers!)

Cuisinart Immersion Hand Blender

I can't live without my Cuisinart Immersion hand blender!  I make protein shakes, soups...all kinds of things.  And the cleanup is super easy.  Recently, I started my son on solid foods.  Naturally, I wanted to make my own and this kitchen tool helped to make that possible.  The first food I served my son was butternut squash (after brown rice cereal).  I steamed and blended it with my handy blender and...voila...homemade baby food!  Nothing processed and no foreign ingredients.  The best part about this tool is, I already had it in my kitchen.  No new gadgets to buy...Love that!!

These are the green beans I made him today.  He loved it!  And I love that I'm feeding my baby well : )
What's great about it too is that I made a bunch of green beans, blended half for him and saved the rest for dinner.
It's good for us all around!
