It's been 12 weeks!

I cannot believe how time flies. Jackson is growing so fast and is now starting to coo and smile up a storm! It's the cutest. I could just stare at him all day.

Originally, I had planned on doing a sort of video workout/food diary for our glutenfreedaily.com website. Unfortunately, I was instructed by my doctor not to work out until now (12 weeks postpardum) & we're finding we have a new problem...getting to the gym. My husband and I have to go in shifts and because he's working constantly, there's not much time for that. So, for now, I'm lucky if I get to the gym a couple times a week. Today was one of those days though and I got my butt kicked. I took a step class and after being out of the gym for 12 weeks, I'm absolutely beat! Anyway, I'm sure I'll feel like a rockstar tomorrow!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. I love this time of year! The holidays will bring a whole new meaning having a little one around : ) I love that he takes such delight in the little things. It truly makes you appreciate life in a whole new way!

Jackson is 4 weeks old!

I can't believe how fast it's gone. My lil man is already 4 weeks old and he's almost doubled his weight! I have barely slept at all in these 4 weeks but I wouldn't change it for anything : ) Being a mom to my beautiful son is the most amazing feeling. Every movement, every gesture, every grunt is the most precious thing I've ever seen!!
Everyone tells me how fast they grow so, I'm thoroughly enjoying every waking moment (no matter how tired I am!)
I feel so truly blessed because on the 27th, my husband and I will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary! We would've never thought that on our 2 year anniversary we would have a baby.
Life has never been richer!

He has arrived!!

Jackson Everett was born August 25, 2010 at 9:52 a.m.
He was 6 lbs 6 oz, 19 inches long.
My husband John & I are having an absolute blast with him. He's quite a character even at 2 weeks old. He makes so many silly faces, is very expressive with his hands and is constantly grunting. It's hilarious!

Counting down the days left in my pregnancy!
Haven't quite figured out all the details but, when the Dr. says it's ok to start working out again, I'm gonna do a Post Baby regimen on GlutenFreedailyblog.com. I'll record all the details of my food intake and workouts. Hopefully, it won't be long til I'm back to my old self again!!
I can't wait. Cleaning house is quite a task when you can hardly bend over. Actually...everything is a task nowadays!! Walking, working out....I finally stopped doing Step at 8 1/2 months. It was getting pretty difficult.
It'll all be worth it when little Jackson arrives!
I'll keep you posted friends : )

5 more weeks to go!

I can't believe I'm so close to meeting my little man. I'm slowly starting to pack my hospital bag and figure out what his first outfit will be. So exciting!!
Today we learned that he is turned completely sideways, considered breech. Hope he flips around soon! I heard that I can try doing somersaults in the pool to try and turn him. If you need me...I'll be at the pool! ; )

Jackson Letters

Here's how it turned out....
John wants to turn the "A" into an Angels theme, but once that's done, it'll go over his crib.
It's so fun preparing for baby!!

8 more weeks to go!!!

I can't believe it! In just 8 short weeks, my life will be changed forever....for the better!
My husband, John and I are enjoying our last moments of peace, quiet and sleeping in. Soon, we'll be lucky if we get any sleep at all.
We've been working on our nursery (very slowly). We have a crib, but no mattress or bedding. And we have a glider and yesterday just got a bassinet. We're getting there! We're having our Baby showers at the end of the month so after that, it's go time!
People have given us the cutest outfits and I love to go in his room and look at them. So little! This week, the project is the letters for his room. I had to go all over town to get all the letters for Jackson. Hopefully, we're feeling crafty when we start them. They're 9" white letters that we're putting scrapbooking paper on top of. I'll post pictures when we finish...if they look good. If they don't, then my husband did it. Just kidding! He's actually way better at this stuff than I am. He's very patient and I just like to get things done. So, we'll see how that goes : )

Jackson Everett

Here's my little pumpkin! I took my Dad and my Daddy to be, to a 4d ultrasound yesterday. It was the coolest experience. To see his movements so clearly was just amazing. He was kind of hiding behind his hand and the umbilical cord the whole time, but it was nice to get a sense of how he's growing.
12 more weeks and we get to meet our little guy in person!

I never thought I would spend as much time as I have obsessing about my lil garden but, I am. After having our entire garden demolished by bunnies and snails 4 times, we finally got it where we want it. We have Roses, lavendar, geraniums, jasmin and lots of other plants and flowers that apparently, bunnies do not like.
Here's a picture of one of the beautiful roses in my garden. The best part about it is how into it my husband has become. He's so cute watering the plants & pruning. Ahhh...it's the little things in life that make me happy!

By the way...

I might not be modeling too much throughout this pregnancy. I met with a maternity agency and they wanted me to be with them exclusively even a year after giving birth (????!!!!!). If something comes up with my current agencies, then I'll audition, but I think it's kind of rare. So, needless to say, it looks like I'll be taking some time off from the job and just enjoying being pregnant. Still working of course, but doing other things. (Check out glutenfreedaily.com : ) )
I will be doing an appearance at the women of perfection show in Torrance on April 25th from 12-6. Come out and visit me! I'll be there with Patricia Kara, Leyla Milani and Lisa Gleave. It'll be fun!! (www.womenofperfection.com)

Active Momma!

I've been going crazy having to tone down my workout since becoming pregnant. I'm used to very high energy classes like kickboxing, step, spin etc. Thankfully today I discovered my gym's pre/postnatal step class (it's so cute...some Mommies come in with their strollers and the babies just watch. I love it!). It's such an amazing workout, but doesn't get your heart rate up high enough to impact the baby in a negative way. They say as long as you have one foot on the ground at all times, you're good....?! I'm trying to be very cautious with everything however, there's only so much I can take of the elliptical and walking on the treadmill. I say, if you're pregnant, find some good prenatal classes in your area. Yoga, pilates and other low impact exercises are great as long as you don't have a high risk pregnancy. Something to keep you active throughout your pregnancy. They say you'll have an easier labor if you do. We'll see...I hope so!

It's a boy!

Well, it's confirmed...we're having a boy! Went in for an ultrasound yesterday and he's now 10 oz. Also, started taking baby care classes last night with my friend Wendy (who's 32 weeks pregnant....I'm 18 weeks today. Guess I'm a little early, but I'm just so excited : ) ).

Not really noticing a change in appetite except for the fact that chicken and veggies do NOT sound good. It's so hard because this is the time my body needs that more than anything.
However yesterday, I came up with the perfect way to get my veggies and fruits in. It's all due to my juicer (I have the Breville and I love it. I think it's under $100, too) It's one of my favorite tools in the kitchen. If I don't feel like eating my veggies, I'll drink them. I know it sounds gross, but I want to share with you my favorite concoction!
I juiced 10 ounces of spinach, 8 ounces of pineapple (I use frozen, chopped pineapple to save time and just defrosted it) and 2 apples. It comes out electric green and from the looks of it, you'd probably be scared to drink it. However, this is the best drink I've ever made. You don't even taste the spinach. Try it, you'll love it!
At least for me now, it's one of the only way I can get my veggies in. Otherwise, I throw 'em in here and there. Spinach in my egg whites or grated zucchini when I'm baking gluten free muffins. I guess these are goods tricks to know if my kids aren't liking veggies!
Just had to share!!

Pregnant and Loving it!

I've been busy lately so, sorry for the lack of posts. Here are some updated pictures at 15 weeks. We think...it's a boy! We had an ultrasound at 13 1/2 weeks, so it was pretty early on. However, we're still pretty confident, we're having a boy. We're so excited!
Now, I feel even more pressure to eat well and live a healthy, active lifestyle. It's not just me anymore. A little life is depending on me to take care of myself! Crazy...I can't believe I'm going to be a Mom!! : )

I have another site for you to check out...it's called egluten.com. Pretty amazing! Along the same lines of glutenfreedaily.com but a little less program based, more fun tips and information. Lots of recipes and helpful tips about living the gluten free lifestyle. There's a recipe in there for the Perfect Filet Mignon and trust me...Ruth Chris and Morton's will never be the same. AND...you can make this filet at home with sweet potatoes and asparagus for under $8 per meal! It costs $8 for fast food these days. Crazy, huh?! And how much better is it to have a home cooked meal.
My husband and I love going out to eat with friends, but most of the time we make our meals at home. I've worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years and trust me, the amount of butter and oil they use...you're way better off making your own meals. I hate not having control over the way my meal is cooked. It's scary to think about the foreign ingredients that are saturating the foods we eat and we'll never know. We just know it tastes good, but is probably not good for you. Once in awhile, it's fine though.
Anyway, we're working on so many fun things right now and I can't wait to share them with you!!
